Mike Lull Custom FX #1871: A Piece of U2 History
More Pictures Coming Soon.
We are incredibly proud to present a remarkable instrument currently in the Village Music collection: a Mike Lull Custom FX in a stunning, high-gloss Silver Sparkle.
The Artist Connection
Serial number #1871 carries a prestigious history, having been originally commissioned for The Edge of U2. Dating back to the late 2000s—the era of the groundbreaking 360° Tour—this guitar was built to meet the "surgical" tonal requirements and exacting standards of one of the world’s most meticulous guitarists and his legendary tech, Dallas Schoo.
The "FX" designation in Mike Lull's builds was specifically engineered for maximum clarity and resonance when paired with complex signal chains, making it the perfect tool for The Edge’s signature atmospheric soundscapes.
Excellence in Luthierie
Hand-built in Bellevue, Washington, by the late, great Mike Lull, this guitar represents the pinnacle of boutique American luthierie. Mike was world-renowned for his "super-strat" designs and his obsessive attention to fretwork and neck stability. With Mike’s passing in 2020, instruments of this calibre and provenance have become increasingly rare and highly sought after by players and collectors alike.
Current Status & Verification
Village Music has reached out to Mike Lull Custom Guitars HQ in the USA to retrieve the original archival build sheet. We are currently awaiting final confirmation on the exact wood selection, custom pickup windings, and the official artist delivery notes to further cement the documentation for this historic instrument.
