A rare and increasingly sought-after 1983 Fender USA Standard Stratocaster, built at Fender’s legendary Fullerton factory during one of the company’s most interesting transitional periods.
Finished in Sienna Sunburst over an ash body with maple neck and fingerboard, this is a particularly desirable 1983 example, retaining several classic Stratocaster appointments not commonly seen on many standard 1983 models.
Unlike the more common 2-knob versions from this period, this guitar features the rarer traditional 3-knob control layout alongside the recessed football jack plate, giving it a more familiar Strat feel and appearance while still retaining the distinctive short-lived features of this era.
Also fitted with the original Freeflyte top-loading tremolo system, unique to this production window.

Condition
A genuine vintage player’s instrument showing honest age-related wear consistent with over 40 years of use.
Cosmetic condition includes:
- lacquer chipping and wear around the fingerboard extension/neck pocket area (pictured)
- light dings, marks and surface wear from regular use
- natural ageing and patina throughout
Overall, the guitar presents very well, with attractive visible ash grain, lovely vintage colour fade, and a clean overall appearance.
The second tone knob has been replaced with a period-correct matching example. Otherwise this remains a very original guitar.
