1998 Fender Standard Stratocaster HSS MIM
Black / Rosewood
Description
A great-playing late-90s Fender Standard Stratocaster HSS, made in Mexico in 1998 and finished in timeless gloss Black with a rosewood fingerboard.
This is a very tidy example for its age, especially for a black-finished guitar, which naturally tends to show light surface swirling and handling marks more readily than lighter colours. The body presents extremely well overall, with no major dings, chips, or significant scratches, while the chrome hardware remains in notably strong condition throughout.
Freshly through our workshop, this Strat has been professionally prepared and is ready to go, including:
- Full professional setup
- Fret dress and polish
- Electronics service/check-over
- Fresh set of Elixir 9-42 strings fitted
The result is a Strat that feels comfortable, plays cleanly, and is ready for stage, studio, or everyday use straight away.

Why Buy This One?
Late-90s Mexican Standards have built a loyal following as reliable, no-nonsense workhorse instruments, and the HSS configuration makes this one especially versatile.
You get classic Strat neck and middle tones, with the added punch and output of a bridge humbucker for heavier rock, higher gain, or thicker lead sounds, making this an ideal all-rounder.
Combined with a recent professional service, fret dress, and setup, this is a genuinely gig-ready instrument that needs nothing done before it’s played.
A clean, honest late-90s Strat with useful specs, classic looks, and plenty of life left in it.
